Head Start | Kids in the Neighborhood | Summer Program
The School Age Child Care program aids 200 working families by providing before and after school child care for their elementary school-aged children. Fun individual and group activities, 'free time,' outdoor play and meaningful learning experiences are provided in a safe and creative atmosphere that encourages personal growth and social interaction.
The KinderKlub program provides extended care to children enrolled in half-day kindergarten; the program operates between the hours of 8:30 am and 12:00 pm and 12:00 pm and 3:30 pm. A summer program is available for children grades K-5; spaces are primarily filled by children who have participated in the school year program.
Care is provided at the Community House's 227 Elm Street facility, as well as at five neighborhood elementary schools: Forest, Pagels, Savin Rock, Seth Haley, and Washington. Children attending any West Haven elementary school are eligible to attend, with bus transportation provided between sites.
Care is available between 7 am and school start, and school dismissal to 6:00 pm during school days. Care is also provided during certain school holidays.
The School Age Child Care program is accredited by the prestigious
National Association for the Education of Young People, and licensed
by the State of Connecticut.
