Employment Opportunities

The West Haven Community House provides numerous employment opportunities for social service professionals who desire to make a difference in their community.

Typical employment categories include:  administrative support; early childhood and elementary education teacher; job coach and residential counselor for adults with mental retardation; social worker; program managers, van drivers; and custodians.

Job qualifications vary by position but always require relevant job experience and education.  Criminal background checks are performed prior to employment; fingerprints and a physical examination are required for certain employment positions.

Current Openings:

• Residential counselor, Residential Services:  Assist adults with mental retardation in residential living program.  Valid CT driver’s license.  DMR med certified required, and experience with adults with mental retardation preferred.

  • Position #1:  Sat & Sun, 9 am – 3 pm, Base $11.50 per her, Med cert. $12.25 per hr.

  • Position #2:  Sat 3 pm – 11 pm, and 11 pm to 7 am (Asleep), Asleep: $7.65 per hr, Base $11.50 per hr, Med cert. $12.25 per hr.

  • Position #3:  Fri 10 pm – 9 am, Sat 11 pm – 9 am, Asleep:  $7.65 per hr, Base $11.50 per hr, Med cert. $12.25 per hr.

• Job Coach, Community Connections:  Full and part-time.  Provide day program for adults with disabilities.  Requires minimum of one year related experience and high school diploma.  Valid CT driver’s license with a clean driving record.  20 hrs per week.
