Head Start Positions

Family Worker
The Family Worker implement Head Start Performance Standards related to family and community partnerships. Maintain a caseload of Head Start families.  Follows program protocol for holistic delivery of services to children and families.

Requirements include:

  • Requires a Baccalaureate or advanced degree in Human Service or related field and two years experience in social services; or
  • Associates degree in Human Service or related field, commitment to further education and three years and; experience in social services.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car.
  • Knowledge of social services and community resources.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, with supervisor and other staff, as a team member to build positive school-family partnerships.
  • Ability to multi-task, keep accurate records and meet time line requirements.
  • Ability to relate well to people and capable of inspiring confidence.
  • Computer literate.

Hours: 35 hours per week, Mon - Fri, Flexible between 7:30am and 5:30pm with some evenings required. 48 weeks, August thru June.

Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour, DOE

Preschool Teacherís Aide (part-time/full year)
The preschool teacherís aide works as a team with the Head Teacher and Teacher to implement Head Start Performance Standards related to the operation of the classroom.

Requirements include:

ē Some experience working with childrenand some college work in early childhood education preferred.

Hours: 15 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 2:30pm - 5:0pm

Salary: $10.10 per hour, DOE

Community Connections Positions

Residential Counselors
Creative, caring individuals needed to work in our residential program for adults with intellectual disabilities. The Residential Counselor will provide services to residential clients in the areas of daily living activities and independent skills based on need. Residential Counselors implement behavior programs and facilitate and promote community integration. Residential Counselors are expected to maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for the residential clients and are required to stay on shift until relieved by another staff member.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum high school degree/GED with two years' experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities, or
  • College Degree and a minimum of one year experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Valid State of Connecticut driverís license with a clean driving record

    Positions/Shifts:

    1. Thurs:11p-9a, Fri:11:00pm - 7:00am Sat:11:00pm - 7:00am
    2. Saturday to Sunday: 7:00pm - 11:00pm
    3. Sunday (Bi-Weekly) 9:00am - 5:00pm

Salary: Starting $12.50-$14.50 per hour based on DOE


Life Skills Coach - DSO
Creative, caring individuals needed to provide services in day program for adults with intellectual disabilities and behavioral challenges. Coaches may be expected to pick up and drop off clients when scheduled, using agency vehicle, and will also drive clients on field trips. Coaches will be required to obtain and maintain Public Service License.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum high school degree/GED with two years' experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities, or
  • College degree and a minimum of one year experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Valid State of Connecticut driver’s license
  • Proof of personal auto insurance coverage meeting state requirements
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a public service license and approval from lease vehicle company
  • Ability to drive a 12 passenger van
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Hours: 33 hours per week, Mon, Tue, Wed & Fri, 8:45am - 3:15pm. Thu 8:45am - 3:45pm

Salary: Starting at $12.50 per hour, DOE

 

Agency Administration Position

Receptionist (part time)
Candidate must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish. Receptionist is professional at all times and welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries. Maintains security by following procedures; monitoring logbook; issuing visitor badges.Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information when needed. Receive and sort daily mail/deliveries.

Requirements include:

  • Experience with multi-line telephone
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Professional appearance
  • High School degree or GED

Hours: 15 - 17.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 2:00pm/2:30pm - 5:30pm

Salary: $10.50 per hour
