Community Connections Positions

Residential Counselor
Creative, caring individuals needed to work in our residential program for adults with intellectual disabilities. The Residential Counselor will provide services to residential clients in the areas of daily living activities and independent skills based on need. Residential Counselors implement behavior programs and facilitate and promote community integration. Residential Counselors are expected to maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for the residential clients and are required to stay on shift until relieved by another staff member.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum high school degree/GED with two years' experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities, or
  • College Degree and a minimum of one year experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Valid State of Connecticut driver’s license with a clean driving record

    Positions/Shifts:

    1. Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 9:00am AND 9:00am - 1:00pm
    2. Saturday/Sunday: 7:00am - 3:00pm
    3. Saturday/Sunday: 9:00am - 9:00pm
    4. Thursday: 11:00pm - 9:00am AND Friday/Saturday: 11:00pm - 7:00am
    5. Saturday/Sunday Biweekly: 9:00am - 5:00pm
    6. Saturday/Sunday: 9:00am - 5:00pm
    7. Friday/Saturday: 3:00pm - 11:00pm

Salary: Starting $12.50-$14.50 per hour based on DOE


Life Skills Coach - DSO
Creative, caring individuals needed to provide services in day program for adults with intellectual disabilities and behavioral challenges. Coaches may be expected to pick up and drop off clients when scheduled, using agency vehicle, and will also drive clients on field trips. Coaches will be required to obtain and maintain Public Service License.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum high school degree/GED with two years' experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities, or
  • College degree and a minimum of one year experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Valid State of Connecticut driver’s license
  • Proof of personal auto insurance coverage meeting state requirements
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a public service license and approval from lease vehicle company
  • Ability to drive a 12 passenger van
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Hours: 33 hours per week, Mon, Tue, Wed & Fri, 8:45am - 3:15pm. Thu 8:45am - 3:45pm

Salary: Starting at $12.50 per hour, DOE

Life Skills Coach – ID (Part Time)
Creative, caring individuals needed to provide services for adults with intellectual disabilities and behavioral challenges. Coaches are expected to pick up and drop off clients when scheduled, drive clients on field trips using their personal vehicle and completing required documentation.

  • Requirements include:
    Minimum high school degree with two years' experience with individuals with ID and/or mental health or behavioral challenges, or An associates degree and a minimum of one year experience with the above
  • Bachelor's degree or advanced and minimum of one year experience with the above
  • Valid State of Connecticut driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have the ability to be approved for leased handicapped van

Hours: 25 hours per week, M-F Flex time between 8a-6p

Salary: $13.50 - $14.50 per hour, DOE

 

Head Start Positions

Preschool Teacher (full time/part year)

The preschool teacher works directly with the Head Teacher to implement the Head Start philosophy. Duties include direct work with children, classroom management, classroom maintenance, supervision, constant communication and documentation.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education with experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with experience

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 7:00am - 2:00pm

Salary: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour, DOE

Children & Youth Services Positions

After School Support Staff (Part Time)

The After School Support Staff candidate will:

  • Implement curriculum developed by After-School Education Coordinator including hands-on STEAM, social, emotional and wellness activities.
  • Conduct small group instruction for identified students in Literacy and STEAM activities with strategies consistent with Connecticut’s Common Core State Standards.
  • Confer with classroom teachers on a regular basis to maintain good communication and collaboration regarding the students.
  • Provide the direct care, supervision, safety and well-being of the students as well as implement the physical activity components of the program in a nurturing environment in which individuality is respected.

Requirements include:

  • Associates degree in education, recreation or related field AND a minimum of one year's experience working with children ages 5 to 11 OR
  • Two years' related college coursework in education, recreation or related field, AND a minimum of two years' work experience with children ages 5 to 11 AND
  • Experience tutoring and familiarity with STEAM activities for school age children
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish) is a plus.

Hours: 15 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 3:00am - 6:00pm.

Salary: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour, DOE
