Community Family Fun Walk

A 2-mile walk along West Haven’s beautiful boardwalk to celebrate our 85th Anniversary and benefit the programs of WHCH. We expect hundreds of walkers from our friends, employees, and Community Partners. Every walker that registers before August 28th will be eligible to receive a commemorative T-Shirt.  

During the walk, there will be activity stations set up to test your skills where you will bring your walk passport to earn raffle tickets. On completion of the event- raffle tickets will be placed in baskets of your choice. In addition, prizes will be awarded for Team & Individual Most Fundraised & Team & Individual Best Costume/Most Spirited. There will be Raffle Baskets & Prepackaged snacks/drinks for purchase.

  • 9 am – 10:30 – Participant Check-In (Receive your T-Shirt, Raffle Tickets and other giveaway items)
  • 10:30-11 am – Zumba Warm Up
  • 11 am – Walk Kick Off
  • Team Pictures will be taken during Check-In

Frequently Asked Questions

 

Where is the walk?
The 2-mile walk starts and ends at the Grove along the historic Savin Rock boardwalk.  Parking is located in lots at Altshuler Place, at Oak Street and Bradley Point. There is no parking at Jimmies or the former Savin Rock Conference Center.

What time should I show up?
Registration is between 10 and 11 am. We will be kicking off the walk at 11:30.

How much does it cost to participate?
There is a $30 per person registration fee.  A free event T-shirt will be given out to the first 200 registrants. This is a fundraiser so ask everyone you know to sponsor you: family, friends, co-workers, teachers, classmates, neighbors, etc.  ALL walkers are encouraged to raise $100 in pledges.

Are there prizes?
Prizes will be awarded in these categories:
Largest Team, Most Funds Raised (Team & Individual), Best Team Theme, Best Costume by a Team Member

What if it rains?
This is a rain or shine event with the outdoor walk followed by prizes and chances on winning a raffle prize. Please dress accordingly.

How can my company match my donation?
Matching gifts are a great way to increase donations. Check to see if your company will match employee contributions and encourage your donors to do the same. To take part in a matching gifts program, request an application from the benefits manager or human resources department of your company. Send the completed form to the Development Office at the Community House or call the department at (203) 934-5221 x133 and we will verify receipt of your gift and complete the process.

How do I turn in pledge donations?
Pledges can be made directly online. For funds raised offline, please use the 2026 Pledge Form when collecting cash and check.  Make sure to fill out the form completely and turn it in to us at least a week prior to the walk.
